Cattle- an introduction

Weeroona Park Cattle

Our primary focus has been to consider cattle breeds that are well suited to small farms.  Running small farms ourselves we can appreciate the difficulties facing new and small farmers.  We have been running our stud lowline herd for about 6 years now and are registered with the Australian Lowline Cattle association.  More recently we have ventured into galloway cattle and plan to concentrate on the belted galloway and black pointed whites.  We have also added miniature herefords to our cattle breeds with the purchase of a stud bull Kingkanga Earl and a number of both poll and horned cows.

Both lowline and galloway cattle are naturally polled, docile in nature, easy calving, excellent feed converters and the galloway in particular are well adapted to cool winters and are generally very tough!.  We have carefully selected these cattle breeds based on these desirable characteristics which make them ideal for small land holdings and novice farmers.  All being beef breeds, just smaller versions of their larger counterparts means that they have desirable carcase characteristics and can be run for meat as well.

Cattle purchased from us are usually well handled, quiet, will be regularly drenched for internal parasites, vaccinated against clostridial diseases and NLIS tagged.  Registered cattle will be sold with the relevant breed society paperwork.  We are always happy to provide ongoing support and information to fellow cattle producers!.

We also have a small number of  commercial cattle usually beef or beef cross breeds joined to usually an angus bull.  We offer both registered and commercial stock for sale at various times so please contact us for further information.

Thanks for looking and now for a bit of Fun!!

Our heifers are great breeders and know how to flirt with the bull.
